What happens to the children?
That question is where Enraizando began.
I’m Antonia, a daughter of immigrants, a mother to five daughters, and a grandmother. My parents came to the United States separately in the 1970s. They met here, built a family, and raised me in Los Angeles.
As a mother, I know how much it means for a child to trust that someone will be there. When I think about children suddenly not knowing where their parent is or when they will see them again, I think about my own daughters and grandchildren.
My concern for children affected by immigration enforcement moved me to begin Enraizando. That concern remains at the heart of this work, and it extends to children experiencing separation and changes in family life for many different reasons.
Whether a child is adjusting to a parent’s absence, a different home, or a new caregiver, my hope is to help them find comfort, stability, and people they can count on. Through Enraizando, I want to build a community that shows up for children and supports the families caring for them.
